Making history by landing a rocket at sea

SpaceX designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. The company was founded in 2002 to revolutionize space technology, with the ultimate goal of enabling people to live on other planets.

Landing a spacecraft under its own power on a moving barge in the ocean sounds like science fiction but Space X does it and that cuts space travel cost by over 50%. How can today’s ready made cloud computing environments change your cost structure?

In 2021, SpaceX successfully landed its Falcon 9 rocket onto a moving drone ship at sea, just a few miles from where it launched.

The Falcon’s reusable first-stage boosters allowed the Falcon to become the first rocket to land propulsively after delivering a payload to orbit.

Landing a rocket on a moving ship in unstable waters is a huge achievement, made possible by millions of OODA combinations and permutations, which not only significantly reduced launch costs, but enabled SpaceX to safely return 56+ Falcon 9 rockets at sea.
